This introductory level certificate is for you if you are new to facilities management, have a desire to work in FM or simply just want a career change.
Learners that have undertaken this qualification are usually school leavers or have come from a non-FM related job and are looking to gain a basic insight into what facilities services involves.
What will I learn?
The IWFM Level 2 Certificate in Facilities Services Principles is a 130-hour qualification (you will gain 13 credits).
What skills and knowledge will I be able to demonstrate after completing the qualification?
You will:
- have knowledge and understanding of facts, procedures and ideas in an area of study or field of work to complete well-defined tasks and address straightforward problems
- interpret relevant information and ideas
- be aware of a range of information that is relevant to the study of FM
- select and use relevant cognitive and practical skills to complete well-defined, generally routine tasks and addresses straightforward problems
- identify, gather and use relevant information to inform actions
- identify how effective actions have been

You will study four mandatory units, each unit has a credit value and the qualification has a credit value totalling 13 credits.

*Fully online is exactly what it says. Our online Learning Management System will guide you through the reading and assessments, and you can work through the qualification at your own pace.
Blended delivery provides a combination of online learning and virtual workshops, with a dedicated tutor available to provide support and expertise to learners in small groups, via Zoom. Learning alongside a group of peers provides a powerful early networking opportunity in a dynamic, workshop environment, while the combination of learning options provides a highly engaging experience.
Next blended intake will start in May 2026. Closing date to join this cohort is 30 April.

*We operate a cohort registration process, where all registrations are processed during the final working week of the month. To register you with the IWFM Awarding Organisation in the current month’s cohort, we will need to receive confirmation of payment by the 20th of the month. If payment is not received by the 20th, your registration will be deferred to the following month. Once your registration is processed, you will receive an email confirming your registration and instructions on how to access the Learning Management System (LMS) to begin your qualification.
How long will it take?
Typically the Fully online qualification takes up to 24 months to complete, depending upon the speed at which you want to progress, while the Blended delivery option is faster at 12-18 months, but with less flexibility over the pace of learning.
From the date your access details are sent you have a 24-month registration period in which to complete the qualification.
